Five weeks on after the latest request about using the loft space here and still no reply from Rooftop to my Rooftop Alteration Request. There should have been a responce in two weeks but despite a number of chases nothing has happened yet. SO time to fire up the complaints process yet again. Something that a recent public meeting at the Rooftop office was held to review the process which it was decided should not even be necessary?

The request is simply to make the loft space safe to use. The problem seems to be that while various statements have been made that we can't use the loft space, there is nothing in my tenancy agreement that prevents my using that space which is private to the flat and having now been a resident for a year I DO have the right to at least request. THAT particular question was first posed when I moved into the flat and has been batted down the road ever since. I HAVE put some flooring down to make my current use of the space safer, and I do not consider that an 'alteration' as such, simply common sense! The question outstanding is simply just what work is necessary to make better safe use of the substantial area in the loft. The cost for which I am happy to cover. I am not looking to make the space 'habitable' which would be a different discussion, such as creating a second bedroom for which there is enough space, but simply safe to move around in and set up my model railway and other such activities.

How much longer will this be batted down the road ...
