Interesting day ... Royal Mail delivered two parcels ... well almost ... had to scout around to find just where the smaller parcel had been left 30 minutes after the pack of MDF had been delivered. Eventually found it a few doors along and so now have bearings in the spool holders and the current print is in white, so the reel of filament is now on proper rollers so the rubber mallet can be put away. I'd had some success with other bit and so while waiting for the order of parts to lock the two z axis screws together I printed off a belt tensioner, and have all the mechanical bits for that. Just need the 6mm belt roller for the arm. The set of bits should be here tomorrow, but I gave in and started a print of part of Liberator (hence the white filament in use) which is currently forcasting a further 24 hours. So dismanting the printer to get at the bottom of the z-axis screws will have to wait until the weekend.
While the 3D printer is busy I also started to run the third panel for the 'Modular Base' from the FreeLaserFiles set. Only problem was I did not anticipate the difference in cutting properties between the old and new MDF panels. Currently running at below half the rate that the earlier MDF was cutting at. Once the sheet is finished I will do what I should have done and run the calibration test on the new MDF. We live and learn. I do need to fit an extractor fan next to the cutter to deal with the fumes and the 3D printer can be pressed into service to convert the 9smm fan that is sitting next to me. It's right in front of the window, which is perhaps not ideal, but even with the fan, I'll need it open to pull the fumes outside. This may be a case of I move things back into the loft and run the fan out to the eves so the bedroom window can be closed.
