Success helps reduce the agro from others
I'm just waiting on the redelivery of a parcel that SHOULD have been here yesterday. DPD have delivered many times, but there was a new driver yesterday and he had no idea how to find our block so claimed I was out and photographed the other side of the block out on the main road. I do have a little simpathy since the DPD system is using a trashed copy of the PAF database which screws up the house number ... which INCLUDES the block name, but not on a number of drop down address lists. The postcode is for the road off which the various blocks connect. Trying to contact DPD to correct the mistake is impossible as they do not have any customer support, as was reported on morning TV while I was following this up. The good news is that my 'normal driver' is on today so I'm not expecting a problem late afternoon when he gets here. Adding to the fun, while I'd bought through 'The Range', as with many such sites, the seller is hiding behind there customer service and also has not contact details. It is about time this particular hole was plugged especially as pointed out in the same TV item, it's the seller who we complain to! The Range customer support can only 'pass on messages' and warn of 3 day delays in replies ...
While I was waiting for messages I had got back into the latest attack on the desktop services. Search via Dolphin has always been a little flakey and sometimes did not produce even just the files I was looking for. Content was a grey area, but after two days of playing I think I have it under control, with Dolphin producing the same list of files as Recoll. Including even the openoffice files which was the initial target, and the ocred pdf files are now also listed properly. Recoll is even displaying emails in the thunderbird setup which is even more impressive and when I moved files in thunderbird it knew it needed to reindex them. The question perhaps is can I get that IN Dolphin to remove the need for the second application, but that is less of a problem given the formatting Recoll provides.
Next job is to remember just what I did to get here. Minstral was supposed to be helping, but much of the material it provided was simply duff and even after telling it just what functions were available in balooctl it still got it wrong.
