More time wasted ...
OK got up this morning planning to get on with some real work, but spotted an article on The Register that Plasma6.4 has been released which included a warning that X11 may not be supported! So 2.5 hours later after checking in again with wayland on my Version 6.3 setup ... I'm back with X11!
The reason is quite simple. One of the main applicatins I use, as I am NOW, is Firefox, but on wayland the windows wrapper fonts are unusable. Back on X11 they are a little small, but uasable. What is perhaps a little irritating is that I can tweek Thunderbird easily when I bugger around with other settings such as the global scale, but I should not have to get 'a good balance', it should be possible to have the SAME size font everywhere? Why is that so difficult these days. But both Firefox and Thunderbird both break down when using bookmarks or message search as both pop-up windows are back with the small size fonts.
I though I was making a little progress when I switched wayland to a global scale of 200%, but it still has not effect on the background pop-up windows. Now is this down to something I need to clear to get back to some default? The AI chat bot comes up with a lot of files that can be edited to manually fix things and also things ... such as 'compositor' which I can not see any reference to in the system settings on Tumbleweed. So until there is some real progress with making a desktop that can be easilly styled I'll stick to what I do have better control of with is X11.
