Things are definitely going well at the moment, and I'm learning a lot. Although the first lesson is to triple check an order when placing them on eBay were there are dozens of parts buried in the one listing. I'd sorted the bits for the synchroniser for the z-axis on the 3D printer, and then realised I'd ordered the wrong bore size for one of the pulleys. Added the right one, but then deleted the belt rather than the wrong pulley. Did not notice until I'd paid! So cancelled o…

Interesting day ... Royal Mail delivered two parcels ... well almost ... had to scout around to find just where the smaller parcel had been left 30 minutes after the pack of MDF had been delivered. Eventually found it a few doors along and so now have bearings in the spool holders and the current print is in white, so the reel of filament is now on proper rollers so the rubber mallet can be put away. Concentrate on one thing at a time?

I am currently looking at 'Slicer Flow Calibration' which is the next step on Martin's list after the Baseline Print. The only real problem with the first test cube was a little bit of gapping in the top surface, which was pointed out as being due to low volume of extrusion. The magic fix in Cura is to up the flow rate a little so I jumped in with my size tens and tried 110% which when printed was a little high, then I realised that of…

Definitely making progress ...

Although with little hiccups. Such as not noticing that the Bowden tube bolt had worked loose, so a print of the 3DBenchy in red failed about an hour in. It's running again and has about 30 minutes to go, but it's looking as good as the black one I printed yesterday. I've printed a couple of spool mounts in black as well, and will run a red set next, followed by white ones. Colour coordinated with the filament, and I just need a box now to…

Concentrating on calibrating the X5SA, by lunchtime on Sunday I had all four corners of the bed producing clean test patches as described by Michael in First Layer, but the middle patch was a problem and adjustment as not possible. The problem was down to a 0.2mm dome in the bed front to back which I needed to tighten down, but there are no knobs for as standard. I had one aluminium bar which I could use to add adjusti…
